 XEROX ENGINEERING COPIERS OFFER PLAIN-PAPER
 ADVANTAGE TO WIDE-FORMAT DOCUMENT USERS
ROCHESTER, N.Y., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) today announced two wide-format, plain-paper engineering copiers, which offer a cost-effective alternative to the traditional diazo blueprinting process.
The Xerox 3050 and 3090 engineering copiers are plain-paper reprographics solutions for architects, engineers and other professionals who work with documents up to 36 inches wide. The 3090 addresses the needs of high-volume users, while the 3050 is the industry's first mid-volume plain-paper engineering copier.
"The advantages of plain-paper reproduction among customers who depend on large documents are overwhelming in terms of productivity, document quality and ease of use," said Bill Pittman, president, Xerox Engineering Systems. "These products offer the high- and mid-volume market segments a very attractive alternative to diazo printing."
Both the 3050 and 3090 make full-size copies up to 36 inches wide by any manageable length. They copy from diazo blueline prints, sepias, original drawings, cut-and-tape composites and other plain- paper copies. The 3050 can also copy rigid originals up to 1/8-inch thick. Both copy onto ordinary bond paper, drafting-quality vellum and polyester drafting film.
The 3050 is the first plain-paper engineering copier to address the specific needs of customers averaging 2,500 copies per month. The 3050 is designed and manufactured in the United States, and will also be exported for sale in Japan.
The 3050 makes multiple, size-for-size copies at rates of three E- size (36 by 48 inches) and six D-size (24 by 36 inches) copies per minute. If features a three-roll media capacity enabling users to perform sizable runs without having to interrupt a job to replenish the media. Each roll is 500 feet in length.
 The 3090 makes multiple, size-for-size copies at rates of seven E- (36 by 44 inches), 12 D- (24 by 36 inches) and C- (18 by 24 inches) and 15 B-size (11 by 17 inches) copies per minute.
The 3090 features a four-roll media storage capacity that enables users to perform large runs without interrupting jobs for media replenishment. Each roll is 500 feet in length. If the media does run out during a job, the 3090 will automatically shift to the next available roll of the same media when the roll in use has been depleted.
National order-taking for the 3050 begins in June through the Xerox Engineering Systems direct sales force and through authorized Xerox dealers. Deliveries are scheduled for July. The 3050 is priced at $22,495.
Order-taking for the Xerox 3090 begins immediately with deliveries scheduled for July. The unit will be sold through the Xerox Engineering Systems direct sales force. The price of the 3090 is $74,500.
