XEROX DEMONSTRATES NEW FULL-COLOR DOCUMENT PRINTER AT COMDEX/FALL '92 /REPEATING FROM NOV. 11 WITH CONTACT PHONE NUMBER AT COMDEX/FALL '92/

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 16 ~PRNewswire~ -- Bringing full-color document printing to the office, Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) opens COMDEX~Fall '92 by demonstrating its new Xerox 4700 Color Document Printer -- the first networked laser printer for users who need to produce full-color documents throughout their enterprises.
Xerox is demonstrating the newly announced printer at COMDEX, at its Hilton Center booth, number H8532.
One month following its announcement, the 4700 on Oct. 14, 1992 was named "Outstanding Color Printer of 1992: High-End Category" by BIS Strategic Decisions, a leading advisor in information-technology products and issues.
Pantone Inc., the world's leading color reference company, has licensed its extended palette of 1,000 colors for the 4700. The 4700 is the first and only xerographic color printer (or copier) to be licensed by Pantone. It is the first printer or copier of any technology to be upgraded to Pantone's new extended palette of more than 1,000 colors.
The 4700 Color Document Printer bridges the gap between slow desktop color printers and more costly, multi-functional devices. The product sets a new industry standard for printing full-color documents at up to 7.5 pages per minute (ppm), while printing black-and-white documents at up to 30 ppm.
The printer serves networked users of IBM or compatible personal computers, Apple Macintosh computers, Sun and Digital Equipment Corporation workstations and IBM AS~400 systems in workgroups, departments and enterprises. The 4700 is the only color office printer than can connect to two data sources simultaneously -- receiving inputs from either two local area networks, or one network and one host mainframe computer.
More than 50 popular software application programs, representing all key environments, are currently certified by Xerox to print on the 4700. The printer is compatible with PostScript Level 1 software and supports Xerox Corporation's data format (XES), as well as HP-GL (Hewlett-Packard Graphics Language).
