XEROX ANNOUNCES IMPROVED PERFORMANCE FOR DOCUPRINT PUBLISHING SERIES; DOCUPRINT 1.2 SYSTEM BRINGS ADDITIONAL BENEFITS TO HIGH-VOLUME, POSTSCRIPT-COMPATIBLE PDL LASER PRINTERS
ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Enhanced software and higher performance hardware for the Xerox DocuPrint Publishing Series high-speed printers today were announced by Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX). The enhancements bring a wide variety of printing productivity capabilities that offer "first set" printing on more complex originals and multi-set rated speed printing. The DocuPrint 1.2 system extends the productivity and efficiency of the DocuPrint Publishing Series. The DocuPrint Publishing Series includes the Xerox DocuPrint Model 350-HC, a highlight color PostScript PDL printer, and the Xerox DocuPrint Model 390, a high-speed black-and- white PostScript PDL printer. The DocuPrint Publishing Series is designed to address the growing business needs for on-demand printing. Typical documents include direct mail pieces, statements, personalized documents and customized product- support materials.
STRONGER PERFORMANCE AND EFFICIENCY
Among the advantages of the DocuPrint 1.2 system are easy access to printer functions such as stapling, printing on both sides (duplex) and the ability to select from up to four different paper trays within one job. In addition to handling Page Description Languages such as PostScript, DocuPrint now has the capability to print scanned images at near-rated engine speeds. Printing speed also is upgraded with DocuPrint 1.2 DocuPrint system enhancements provide multi-set printing of a single document at full speed by compressing the size of the file being sent.
The DocuPrint 1.2 system utilizes the advanced technology of the SUN workstation. DocuPrint 1.2 features a SUN SPARC 10 Model 30 workstation which, combined with current software enhancements, gives the customer approximately 50 percent faster image processing. "DocuPrint has brought production-level performance and efficiency to customers printing PostScript documents," said William L. Valentine, vice president and general manager, Network Printing Business Unit, Xerox Document Production Systems Division. "DocuPrint 1.2 will further strengthen our customers' printing performance and efficiency."
The DocuPrint Publishing Series is backed by the Xerox Total Satisfaction Guarantee. Within three years of equipment delivery, a customer can direct Xerox to replace the product if the product or support level is not completely satisfactory to the customer.
PRICING AND AVAILABILITY
Order-taking for the DocuPrint 1.2 system begins immediately. The new software release does not impact the price of DocuPrint Publishing Series Products. DocuPrint model 350-HC has a commercial list price of $155,000 and DocuPrint Model 390 has a commercial list price of $190,000. A variety of lease option plans also is available.
