XEROX AND AT&T TEAM UP TO OFFER SMALL BUSINESSES BIG SAVINGS 'VIA XEROX'
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) has launched an innovative program that guarantees cost savings on AT&T (NYSE: T) long-distance calls for small businesses that purchase, rent or lease a Xerox product. Under the program, known as "Via Xerox," AT&T offers to new qualifying small-business customers of Xerox a reduced rate traditionally available only to high-volume long-distance users. The program is unique in that Xerox guarantees three years of direct-dialed, interstate long-distance rates averaging at least 10 percent less than the standard rates that small businesses currently pay for direct-dialed calls with the three major carriers. Business customers who enroll in the Via Xerox program are guaranteed the following savings on monthly telephone charges for calls made using the AT&T network: a minimum of 10 percent savings from the current standard AT&T rates on domestic, direct-dialed outbound long- distance calls, and 10 percent savings from AT&T's 800 service rates. Customers who are currently using MCI or Sprint will save, on average, 10 percent from standard rates for outbound calls and five percent on standard 800 service rates when they enroll in Via Xerox and switch their long-distance service to AT&T. Also included in the program are discounts on AT&T Calling Card and international calls, although the savings guarantee does not extend to these calls. Complete customer satisfaction is promised by both AT&T and Xerox. The Via Xerox program requires a 12-month commitment from customers, but those who are not fully satisfied using AT&T long-distance service have 90 days to switch to another long-distance carrier at no charge. "Xerox and AT&T are committed to providing solutions for small and medium-size business customers," said George Walton, vice president, general markets, Xerox United States Customer Operations. "Our experience shows that the Via Xerox AT&T program provides customers with savings on their long-distance phone bills that can help smaller businesses afford that new copier and stay within a tight budget." Certain qualifications apply, however, the vast majority of small to medium-sized U.S. businesses can qualify for the program. "Customers have been very receptive," said Betsy Bernard, AT&T vice president of sales. "The cost savings and customer satisfaction guarantee, backed by the quality commitment of Xerox and AT&T, makes VIA Xerox one of the best deals in the marketplace for owners of small and medium-sized businesses." Long-distance savings is just one aspect of the "Via Xerox" program. Through another Via Xerox offer, Xerox customers can reduce overnight document delivery costs by as much as 50 percent by obtaining a preferred rate through a Xerox-managed network of overnight, air express carriers. To arrange to see a Xerox Sales Representative or for literature on Xerox products combined with the Via Xerox AT&T offer, businesses can call toll-free 800-ASK-XEROX, extension ATT, during normal business hours, Monday through Friday. -0- 11/3/93 /CONTACT: Richard Nemes of Xerox, 716-422-4036, or Susan Ramsey of AT&T, 914-397-6759/ (XRX T)
