LAWYERS came bottom of a survey of how house-hunters rate surveyors, estate agents, lawyers and mortgage lenders in arranging a home purchase.

Women were especially hostile to the legal profession. Six out of 10 said they provide bad or terrible value for money.

Surveyors came top for providing the best value for money and quality of service.

Banks and building societies came second overall in the survey commissioned by property website assertahome.

Estate agents came top for minimising delays but scored poorly on value for money and overall quality of service.
