Worldspan implements automated Service Fees product.

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Worldspan LP, a travel technology provider, has implemented the new automated Service Fees product from Airline Tariff Publishing Company (ATPCO), which automates and standardises the filing, distribution and pricing of airline fuel and insurance fees associated with air fares.

After successfully completed testing on 14 October 2005, the new solution became effective for all Worldspan participating carriers on 23 October 2005. Worldspan said that it is the first provider to implement this product.

In addition Worldspan also stated that its previous manual fuel and insurance fee filing process resulted in lost time and data entry errors in which carriers' intended charges did not always match charges reflected on tickets or travel documents, once issued.

In addition to time and cost inefficiencies, such errors also resulted in airline debit memos to ticket issuers, the company said.
