WorldPay to introduce fraud guarantee for online payments.
The Internet card payments and e-commerce systems provider WorldPay has unveiled a guarantee against fraud for companies and their customers buying and selling over the Internet.
The guarantee will be introduced from January 2001 to businesses that have selected WorldPay's WorldDirect service to handle their online payments. Covering all credit card and debit card payments, the guarantee promises that shoppers buying from businesses signed up to WorldDirect will get their money back if a business does not deliver and that businesses using WorldDirect will be refunded for any loss from stolen or fraudulently used cards.
WorldPay charges companies a monthly fee (typically GBP20) and a percentage of each transaction (typically 1%) for the WorldDirect service in addition to standard charges for handling online payment processing.
