World stage for DJ James.
HUDDERSFIELD DJ James Dyson is heading to Austria to represent Britain in the finals of an international contest.
James is in the world final of the Movida Corona DJ competition at the Prater Dome in Vienna on November 29 where he will compete to be crowned champion.
If he succeeds, he will win the coveted prize of the chance to perform at selected Pacha clubs around the globe, including those in Ibiza, New York, London, Munich and Sao Paulo.
James won his place in the final by beating off competition from other British DJs at the Ministry of Sound in London.
A total of 500 mixing masters took part in the 60 national heats of the competition, sponsored by Corona Extra beer.
Performing at such high profile events has been a new experience for James, from Scissett, who has previously confined his talents to venues in the Huddersfield area.
He said: "To get to the English final and play at Ministry of Sound was amazing, but to be able to represent my country in the world final in Austria means everything to me. Winning is a dream come true."
Andy Milford knows what it is like to scoop the Movida Corona title - he was crowned Movida Corona world champion in 2003 and is now organiser of the competition in the UK.
He said: "Movida Corona continues to be an intense and passionate competition, the intensity of this year's heats and finals has been extraordinary.
"James played a superb set at Ministry of Sound and is set to wow the judges at the world final next month.
"The great beauty of Movida Corona is that it gives amateur DJs a fantastic platform in what is becoming an increasingly difficult industry to break into."
The Movida Corona finalists got a taste of what success could bring on final night, when they were given the VIP treatment by Corona Extra - a spectacular dinner on a Thames cruise, with music, entertainment and break dancers.
Angel Garcia Gomez, head of Corona Extra in the UK, said: "We wish James good luck in the world final, he thoroughly deserves a place because of the great talent and drive he has shown throughout the competition."
