A lovestruck couple are in perfect step after scooping places at a prestigious London stage school.

Dancers Elizabeth Giles and Neil Hainsworth have been an item since they were pupils at Hall Garth School in Middlesbrough.

Now 18, the pair are both studying for a National Diploma in Performing Arts at Middlesbrough College, as well as an A-level in dance.

And they look set to follow their dreams together after beating thousands to win places at the London Contemporary Dance School.

"We've known each other since we were 12 and have come through school and college together, so we're really pleased to be moving on together now," said Elizabeth.

Elizabeth and Neil, who both live in Middlesbrough, are planning to move into a studio together in London in September when their three-year course begins.

The head of performing arts at Middlesbrough College, Ray Johns, said he was delighted for the couple.

"It's wonderful that they have managed to beat off the fierce competition and won't have to separate to follow their careers," he said.
