World Travel Awards.

A strong delegation of hoteliers, senior tourism figures and international media from 30 countries came together once again to felicitate the best in the travel industry at the World Travel Awards (WTA) Middle East Ceremony held at the Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa, Dubai on April 30, 2012.

ABU DHABI triumphed at the Middle East Gala for the 2012 World Travel Awards held in Dubai with an impressive 36 awards.

Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority picked up three regional awards including the Middle East's Leading Tourism Board and Middle East's Leading Marketing Campaign for the third consecutive year and Middle East's Leading Beach Destination for Saadiyat Island. Mubarak Al Nuaimi received the authority's awards from Graham Cooke, president and founder of the World Travel Awards.

ETIHAD Airways was named the Middle East's Leading Airline for the sixth year in a row. The airline was also recognised for the Middle East's Leading Airline First Class, Leading Airline Inflight Entertainment and Leading Cabin Staff. W DOHA Hotel and Residences, the first and only in the Middle East of the iconic luxury lifestyle brand, took home two awards for Middle East's leading business hotel and Middle East Leading Hotel and Residences at the World Travel Awards Middle East ceremony. THE Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain Hotel & Spa was recognised as Bahrain's Leading Hotel by The World Travel Awards 2012. The success brings the total number of World Travel Awards that The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain has won over the past years to 16. ROTANA, the leading hotel management company in the Middle East and Africa, was recognised for its continuous efforts and success , winning10 awards at this year's World Travel Awards.

For the sixth year in a row, Rotana was voted as the 'Middle East's Leading Hotel Brand'. Its individual property awards included Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana, Middle East's Leading Family Resort; Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi, Middle East's Leading Corporate Resort; Arjaan by Rotana Dubai, Middle East's Leading Luxury Hotel Apartments; Al Murooj Rotana Dubai, Middle East's Leading City Hotel; Gefinor Rotana Beirut, Lebanon's Leading Business Hotel; Oryx Rotana Doha, Qatar's Leading Business Hotel; Amwaj Rotana Dubai, Dubai's Leading City Hotel; Park Rotana Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi's Leading Business Hotel; and Erbil Rotana, Iraq's Leading Hotel.

ABU DHABI's iconic Emirates Palace took home five awards at the Middle East World travel Award 2012. The resort was awarded, UAE's Leading Resort 2012, Abu Dhabi's Leading Resort 2012, Middle East's Leading Suite 2012, Middle East's Leading Luxury Resort 2012 and Middle East's Leading Meetings & Conference Resort. The awards were collected by Anita Cremer, director of sales and marketing and Zahid Ahmad Noon, assistant sales manager, of Emirates Palace. THE Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara took home the Middle East's Leading Desert Resort Award 2012 for the third consecutive year at the World Travel Awards. Collecting the award was Wael Soueid, general manager of Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara.

THE Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) scooped global recognition for the Emirate of Dubai in three categories at the 2012 edition of the World Travel Awards. Dubai bagged the awards for - Middle East's Leading Destination (for the second year running), Middle East's Leading Meetings & Conference Destination and Leading Cruise Port.

PROPERTY development, investment and management company, Al Khozama Management Company (AKMC) affirmed its leadership position in Saudi Arabia's hospitality industry scooping four awards at the Middle East World Travel Awards. The company was recognised as Saudi Arabia's Leading Hospitality Brand specifically for its Al Faisaliah and Al Khozama hotels. Al Faisaliah Hotel was awarded Saudi Arabia's Leading Hotel as well as Middle East's Leading Luxury City Hotel and Al Khozama - Al Shohada Hotel in Makkah was awarded Makkah's Leading Hotel for the third consecutive year.

ROYAL Jet, the Abu Dhabi-based international luxury flight services company, was presented the Middle East's Leading Private Jet Charter Award. Fahad Wali, chief vice president Commercial, Royal Jet Group, and Nasser Khamis Al Dhahri, director protocol, Royal Jet Group, pose with their awards.

AQEEL Raees, CEO for Gulf Hotels Group collected the award for Bahrain's Leading Business Hotel 2012, given to Gulf Hotel Bahrain and Gulf Convention Centre.

SAUDI ARABIA's newest luxury hotel, The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh, was honoured with the Saudi Arabia's Leading Business Hotel and Saudi Arabia's Leading Luxury Hotel titles. Collecting their awards were Jean-Francois Laurent, general manager and Mikel Ibrahim, director of sales & marketing for The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh.

THE award for Kuwait's Leading Business Hotel 2012 and Kuwait's Leading Hotel 2012 went to Sheraton Kuwait Hotel & Towers. Collecting the awards were Mounir Amer, general manager, Mazen Al-Mhanna, director of sales, and Tony Khalife, sales manager of Sheraton Kuwait Hotel & Towers.

THE Middle East's Leading Exhibition & Convention Centre 2012 Award was given to Qatar National Convention Centre. Ahmed Mohd Kraib Al Hajjaji, chief executive officer, Qatar National Convention Centre, collects the award. THE Middle East's Leading Sports Resort 2012 award went to The Meydan Hotel, Dubai. Abdin Nasralla, vice president, Meydan Hotels and Hospitality, Meydan and Karim Bizid, general manager of The Meydan Hotel are seen with their awards.

THE award for the Middle East's Leading Airport 2012 went to Dubai International Airport, Terminal 3. Lewis Naim, head of marketing & brand management at Dubai International Airport, collected the award.

THE Grosvenor House Dubai scooped four awards for Dubai's Leading Business Hotel, UAE's Leading Business Hotel, UAE's Leading Hotel Apartments and Middle East's Leading Luxury Hotel & Residences. Pam Wilby, general manager, Raja Zeidan, director of rooms and Ravi Bhirani, director of sales, Grosvenor House Dubai are seen with their awards.

ROYAL Caribbean International, known across the globe for offering a world-class vacation experience once again won the title of Middle East's Leading Cruise Line.

It is the third consecutive time the company has been acknowledged with this prestigious honour. Collecting the award was Helen Beck, regional director and Lakshmi Durai, executive director Middle East, Royal Caribbean International.

REGENCY Travel and Tours, Doha, Qatar was honoured with the award for Qatar's Leading Travel Agency 2012 and Middle East's Leading Travel Agency 2012, the latter for the second consecutive year. Tareq Abdullatif Taha, president, CEO and chairman, Regency Travel & Tours, collects the awards.
