World Progress Report with Joan Lunden Focuses on Preserving Our Environment.

Boca Raton, FL, May 15, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Each day, our ecosystems are affected by human negligence. Entire species of plants and animals are impacted because of the decisions we make. So when a disastrous event like the April 20th, 2010 Gulf Coast oil spill occurs, our environment is inevitably altered.

Oil Spills are very detrimental not only to our water supplies, but also to marine life habitats - especially if they reach the coast line. Populations of birds and marine life that reside along the shoreline could be directly affected often resulting in death and a devastating disruption to their way of life. Though the consequences can be far reaching, there are preventative measures in place as well as response techniques available should a spill occur. In fact WaterEncyclopedia.com states, "The Oil Pollution Act of 1990 was enacted by the U.S. Congress to strengthen oil spill prevention, planning, response, and restoration efforts. Under its provisions, the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund provides cleanup funds for oil pollution incidents."

Ultimately, the responsibility of preserving a healthy environment falls upon everyone. By observing mistakes from our past and striving to protect our current natural resources, we impact our future. As such, World Progress Report would like to highlight the companies and organizations working towards solutions to these problems that will protect our environment and lead to a greener tomorrow. "Through our Public Television series, it is our hope to educate people on how to treat and maintain our current environment. Afterall, how we treat our planet today, affects our tomorrow," said the Executive Producer of the series.
