World Mental Health day observed.
Rawalpindi -- World Mental Health Day was observed with theme of Dignity in mental health in new teaching block of Rawalpindi Medical College, Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi.
Eminent Psychiatrists, Professor Malik H. Mubassar, Dean Faculty of Psychiatry Brig Mowadat Rana, Dr. Sania Nishtar and Professor of Psychiatry Dr. Fareed Minhas presented thought provoking presentations regarding the state of affairs of mental patients and focused about the social behavior of people and their near and dear ones.
The seminar was organized with coordination of Pharma Evo. Senior Area Manager Shahid Khan and Mohammad Shoaib Butt also present on the occasion.
In her key note address former Federal Minister for Education, Science and Technology Dr. Sania Nishtar appreciated the contributions of renowned Psychiatrists of Pakistan who had developed the medical treatment facilities for mental patients and promoted research and training in this field.
She reiterated for enactment of relevant laws to ensure the protection of human rights and health cover for mental patients. Dr. Sania Nishtar also mentioned about the obnoxious behavior of some of human beings with mentally retarded persons who deserves our special attention and cooperation to spend their life with pride and honor.
Brig Mowadat Rana presented golden seven principals as tonics of Mental Health and stressed on personal contentment, pride and excitement for social and mental health and said that strong belief in the invisible things with positive attitude and expectations gives us mental satisfaction.
Head Institute of Psychiatry Benzair Bhutto Hospital, Professor Farid Minhas said positive social behavior enable mental patients for their early recovery.
He said persons with mental disabilities are badly deprived of their basic rights and unfortunately the issue has never been given due attention by all concerns.
He said that people with mental health conditions around the world experience stigma, discrimination and wide ranging violations which strips them off their dignity.
He explained that to promote the rights and dignity of people with mental health conditions, the health care system should be improved in a way to provide better support and care for people with mental health conditions by providing community based services encompassing a recovery approach that inspires hope and supports people to achieve their goals and aspirations
