World Halal Assembly 2018.

The World Halal Assembly 2018 of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Regional Office XII kicked off yesterday in Pasay City, serving as a platform for experts, traders, entrepreneurs and consumers from various nations to discuss and exchange views on halal, build networks and synergies and to create solutions.
'Halal' refers to what is allowable or lawful in traditional Islamic Law, more often applied to food and beverages.
Dr. Shayma Zenaida Hadji Raof Laidan, Chairperson of the World Halal Assembly Philippines and Regional Director of DOST XII, mentioned in her welcoming remarks that more and more people each year are attending the halal forums and are beginning to patronize the halal products.
Various halal advocates, key players and luminaries from the Philippines and overseas attended the forum which discussed the halal industry in the country and its growth so far.
Dr. Arturo Valera, Vice Chair of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) in Region XII mentioned that the country is a new key player in this field with the recent passing of the halal law back in 2015.
