World Book Night.

World Book Night takes place on Wednesday, which is also the anniversary of the birth and death of Shakespeare.

The annual celebration of the written word encourages people to read for pleasure and aims to improve literacy, bring communities together and distribute books to new readers.

One highlight of the event is the book list, a selection of 20 titles chosen to represent a diverse range of genres, ages and tastes.

This year's crop includes Nora Roberts' Black Hills, Robert Muchamore's The Recruit, Adele Parks' Whatever It Takes, Martin Cruz Smith's Gorky Park and John Boyne's incomparable The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas. ?
