World Blood Donors' Day observed, Need stressed to create awareness regarding blood donations Blood camps, awareness seminar, walk arranged marking Blood Donors' Day.

QUETTA -- World Blood Donors' Day was observed with due consideration in the provincial metropolis on Thursday. Blood donation camps were arranged on one hand, the awareness seminar was also organized to mark the significance of the day.

All the activities were arranged in the private sector means the voluntary organizations including the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Balochistan, but the day was just forgotten by the public sector as not a single activity was held at the official level in the metropolis.

PRCS Balochistan chapter arranged a camp at its premises on Airport road where its volunteers gathered and donated their blood for the cause of humanity.

The message behind the blood donation is to convey that life of a human being can be saved by donating him / her fresh screened blood to a needy in emergency or at the time of need, a communique issued here by the PRCS Balochistan said.

The PRCS has been in the forefront in any emergent situation or especially at the difficult time of natural disaster.

Meanwhile, a blood camp was arranged by the Pashtoonkhwa Blood Bank (PBB) here at the Bacha Khan chowk the same day.

The blood camp, which was started from the morning, remained continued till the evening. A number of people mainly youth turned up at the camp to donate their blood.

Announcement was also made on the occasion to attract the people to donate their blood for the cause of humanity. Banners were also displayed carrying slogans about blood donations and saving lives through the noble action.

The organizers of the blood camp also kept on giving information to the visitors about the blood donations and that how it is important to save life of a human being at the time of need. If a patient or injured person may not get fresh blood during an emergency then the situation may lead to end one's life or create a complicated situation.

So, every healthy human being aging between "18-60" should donate one's blood just to save one's life, they stressed.

Moreover, a walk was also held under the aegis of Baloch Blood Bank in the city to mark the day.

A large number of people belonging to various walks of the life including the leaders and workers of the National Party took part in the walk. Among prominent were the President of NP, Senator (r) Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch and its senior leader, Dr. Ishaq Baloch. At end of the walk at the Idara-e-Saqafat, a seminar was also arranged there. Speakers including Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch and Dr. Ishaq Baloch underlined the need to create much needed awareness about blood donations in the society.

They especially called on the youth to come forward wholeheartedly to donate their blood on regular basis so as to save lives of the people.
