World's biggest naked beach party to be held Down Under.

Melbourne, Aug 26 ( ANI ): Nudists have set their sights on the coastal city of Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia to host the world's biggest naked beach party - an event that would add new meaning to the term "Glitter Strip."

Nudism advocate Dario Western is pushing to bring the World Naked Beach Party to The Spit, well known as a popular site for "unofficial nude recreation."

According to websites devoted to the event, it is held in various cities around the world, attracting people keen to party in their birthday suit.

The cheeky day of festivities would include races in the raw and sports sans clothes, the Gold Coast Bulletin reported.

Organisers said that the serious side of the event is the promotion of nudism as a healthy lifestyle.

Western will flesh out his idea for the Coast party at a Free Beaches Australia meeting next month.

If the organisation, which supports nudity on beaches, gives its support for the event, an approach will be made to Gold Coast City Council.

Western said that the Gold Coast was perfect city to host the party, which took off in America as the brainchild of Seattle-based nudism advocacy website

"The Spit is the best option, it has been used for unofficial nude recreation for years," quoted him as saying.

But the idea got a dressing-down from Division 7 councillor Lex Bell, who said the Spit was "too accessible" to the public and recommended South Stradbroke as an appropriate venue instead.

"You really wouldn't want people unexpectedly coming upon a naked beach party," Bell said. ( ANI )
