World's First Biodegradable Crosslinked Polyolefin Foam.

Eco-Friendly Biodegradable Products Created by Revolutionary Breakthrough in Crosslinked Foam Processing

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Bio-Tec Environmental LLC and the M.H. Stallman Company, a global leader in the development and manufacture of specialty fabricated crosslinked polyolefin foams for use in a wide variety of industrial and consumer markets, announce the first commercial production of the B-Link[TM] line of biodegradable crosslinked foam, using the proprietary additive EcoPure[R] from Bio-Tec Environmental LLC. The EcoPure[R] additive enables microorganisms in a landfill disposal site to metabolize the molecular structure of most common plastics into an inert humus-like form that is harmless to the environment. This process takes organic compounds, mixed with nutrients, a scissoring agent and a carrier resin to enable biodegradation while not affecting the normal use performance of the polymers.

In an innovative vertical development process, M.H. Stallman Company engineers brought together their raw material suppliers and chemists from Bio-Tec Environmental to streamline the development of B-Link[TM] Biodegradable Crosslinked Foam. Jim Stallman, President of the M.H. Stallman Company, said, "This advancement in green technology will have a major impact on our industry. Until today crosslinked polyolefins could not be recycled and would not break down once thrown away. Now with our B-Link[TM] products we are able to provide our customers with crosslinked foams that meet all of their performance requirements during normal use but will safely biodegrade once disposed of in a landfill."

Samuel Adams, Executive Vice President of Bio-Tec, stated, "Bio-Tec is pleased that our proprietary additive can be used on such a large scale to create value, to bring dynamic change to an entire industry and more importantly to positively affect the environment by stopping unnecessary plastic waste. Our key partners have the best of all worlds with the use of EcoPure[R], earth friendly products, proven by independent testing, that are safe for food contact and pharmaceutical use and that do not impede product performance."

B-Link[TM] Biodegradable Crosslinked Foams are currently available in many densities and formulations. They can be manufactured in buns or continuous rolls, with or without the IXP - LCI Low Carbon Impact Technology.
