Workshops share expertise in China.

More than 70 financial experts came together on 30 March to participate in an event called Performance Management--targeted is the key (pictured below). The event was part of the CIMA Management Workshop series and took place in the Beijing Landmark Hotel. It saw speakers from universities as well as business share their experience and knowledge on performance management. Following the workshop, a similar event was hosted at the Marco Polo Shenzhen which saw 50 financial experts come together to discuss Application of Management Accounting in Enterprise. During this workshop, David Liu (USCPA, CGMA), vice president finance, TSMC, shared his experience and knowledge on change management, while William Chu (ACMA, CGMA), manager PRC development, CLP Business Management and Support Limited, discussed the implementation of the Balanced Scorecard.


Shared-services forum goes global with first event outside the UK

Yogi Thakker, CIMA's strategic client director based In Asia, welcomed representatives from some of the world's top companies to the first meeting of the CIMA-Loughborough Shared Services Forum to be held outside the UK. A number of topical issues from across the shared services and business process outsourcing community were discussed by executives from finance and HR business support services. David Burgess, Shell vice president (revenue), offered insight into Shell's finance transformation.

Event discusses latest developments around GAAP and IFRS

An event was held recently to give delegates an overview of the recent financial reporting developments affecting the UK.

Main topics covered included a round-up of the latest 2012 proposals for the future of UK GAAP, an overview of recent changes in UK GAAP (related parties, troubled debt restructurings) and a review of the implications of recent and impending IFRS developments (group accounting framework, employee benefits, leases, revenue).

Airbus showcased at manufacturing forum in Wales

May, Wales

The second manufacturing forum event was recently held at Airbus Broughton. The event included a testimony from one of its senior operational managers on business partnerships within Airbus. There was also a tour of the new North Factory facility which assembles wings for the Airbus A350 XWB family of aircraft.
