Workshop on science communication.

LAHORE -- The Pakistan Biotechnology Information Centre, Lahore chapter, in collaboration with the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA) organised a one-day workshop on science communication at Forman Christian College University here on Monday.

Resource persons Dr Mahaletchumy Arujanan from Malaysia talked of economic, political, cultural, utilitarian impact of putting science in public domain.

The executive director of Malaysian Biotechnology Information Center also focused on areas such as understanding anti-science lobby, sources for science stories, interviewing scientists, research papers vs media articles and humanizing science.

Dr Kauser A Malik, dean of the postgraduate studies and director of the PABIC Lahore chapter, explained the importance of science communication, particularly for the journalists who have to effectively translate the scientific work and jargon into everyday language.

Industry perspective was shared by Muhammad Asim from the Crop Life Pakistan.
