Workshop on Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Sciences ends.

HYDERABAD -- A 2-day workshop organized by the Institute of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Sciences of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro concluded on Friday.

Delivering his presidential remarks at the concluding session of the workshop, the Vice Chancellor LUMHS Prof. Noshad A. Shaikh highlighting the importance of Physiotherapists said they help people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice.

They maintain health for people of all ages, helping patients to manage pain and prevent disease, he said and added that the profession helps to encourage development and facilitate recovery, enabling people to stay in work while helping them to remain independent for as long as possible.

The Director Institute of Physiotherapy Dr. Abbas Memon said that Physiotherapy is a science-based profession and takes whole person approach to health and well being, which includes the patient's general lifestyle.

At the core is the patient's involvement in their own care, through education, awareness, empowerment and participation in their treatment, he said.

Dr. Suneel Kumar Punshi, Senior Physiotherapist at National Health Services London delivered a detailed presentation on Neurological Physiotherapy while Dr. Sohail Saleem Head of Sports Medicine Department Pakistan Cricket Board and Member Medical Committee, International Cricket Council shared his views on Thoracic Spine Manual Therapy and Musculoskeletal and Muscle Energy Techniques.
