Workshop Highlights GCC Unified Law for Anti-Dumping.

Muscat, Oct 17 (ONA) --- The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with office of the Technical Secretariat to combat harmful practices in international trade of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), organized today a workshop highlighting the GCC unified law for anti-dumping and compensatory and preventive measures.

The event was organized at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat under the auspices of Hilal bin Hamad al-Hasani, Chief Executive Officer of PEIE.

Al Hasani stressed the importance of the workshop in underlining topics related to anti-dumping measures and harmful practices, as well as highlighting samples from the office of Technical Secretariat to combat harmful practices in international trade of the GCC on local and external levels.

"The law represents an important step to help the industrial sector to overcome particular challenges. Industrialists can benefit from the workshop through considering necessary measures when import and export operations are taking place to and from the GCC countries. Those in charge of the industrial sector have to work together to educate everyone and familiarize them with anti-dumping related laws and regulations," Al Hasani pointed out.

The workshop began with a speech delivered by Saud al-Khusaibi, Director General of Organizations and Commercial Relations at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, who explained that this workshop comes in line with a series of events held to disseminate awareness on the mechanisms for combating harmful practices in international trade and the significance of the GCC Unified Law for Anti-Dumping and Compensatory and Preventive Measures.

It should be noted that the Royal Decree 20/2015 promulgated the GCC Unified Law on Anti-Dumping and Counter-Prevailing Measures, which states that the provisions of the GCC Unified Law on Anti-dumping and Compensatory and Preventive Measures shall be applied.
