Workers in Greece go on general strike.

ATyNA (CyHAN)- As Greek unions went on 24 hour-long general strike over planned social security overhaul stopped public and transport services paralyzed daily life across the country.

Upon the general strike call of workers unions GSEE, ADEDY and PAME, protest meetings were held in various cities of the country to protest security overhaul.

Gathering at Kalfmonos Square located in Greek capital of Athens, a total of fifteen thousands of people protested the SYRIZA party. Protesting group later walked out to Sintagma Square and left the square soon later chanting slogans in front of the parliament building.

As soon as the protest meeting finished and group left from the Sintagma square, a masked group threw molotov cocktails and stun grenades to policemen. After a brief tension, group members run away the back alleys but many cars took serious damages during the incident.

During the strikes public services and transport services paralyzed daily life across the country. Some scheduled ferry lines were also interrupted due to the strike. Bus, underground, trolley bus, tramway and light tramway line will not run till 21:00 Greek local time. Railways lines also attended the strike.
