WorkLight and Netvibes announce partnership.

INTERNET BUSINESS NEWS-(C)1995-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

WorkLight Inc, an Enterprise 2.0 company, and Netvibes, a widget and personalised start page service, have announced a partnership to provide companies with a secure, enterprise-grade widget solution to do business with customers, partners and employees.

The partnership is understood to combine the universal distribution capabilities of Netvibes' Universal Widget API (UWA) and the personalised startpage platform with Web 2.0 security resources of WorkLight Server, allowing customers and businesses to search for and purchase products and services, track order shipments, share secure information and conduct other secure actions using Netvibes widgets and startpages.

Companies utilising the new capabilities can provide consumers with a range of customised tools, including secure RSS feeds, targeted promotional widgets, or secure, transactional widgets for managing accounts.

The solution is expected to enable businesses to extend their business reach beyond their own website and benefit in the following ways: generate new revenue by delivering transactional widgets that increase customer activities; reduce costs of doing business; portal overhaul by using a 'drop in' personalised homepage architecture that is installed within the data center; as well as acquire new and retain current customers by offering improved service in the places they are already spending their time on-line, the company said.

No financial details were disclosed.
