Woodpecker Cider will be tapped by Wisdom.
Woodpecker Cider will be tapped by WisdomOne of the world's largest cidermakers and one of America's leading beer importers are joining forces to tap cider and beverage sales in the American market.
England's century-old beverage firm, H.P. Bulmer Drinks Ltd., has signed an agreement with Wisdom Import Sales Co. of Irvine, CA, to import and market Bulmers beverages nationally in the U.S.
Wisdom's first introduction for Bulmers is Woodpecker Cider, one of England's most famous cider brands, which is currently being test-marketed in several metro-markets throughout the country, according to Wisdom president Manuel Rubiralta.
Woodpecker will be offered in four-packs of 9.3-oz. bottles and on tap.
"Cider drinks are very popular in England and in much of Europe," said Rubiralta. "In Great Britain alone, more than 64 million gallons of cider are sold annually, with Bulmers products representing about half of that total. Initially, Bulmers Woodpecker Cider will be introduced in New York, Boston, New Jersey, San Francisco and Florida, then we plan to expand the brand slowly to other metropolitan markets across the U.S."
In addition to Woodpecker Cider, Bulmers also produces Strongbow, Crispen, Bulmers and several other cider products, soft drinks, fruit juices and mineral waters.
"We're very pleased to be selected by Bulmers as the national importer for the company's world-famous line of cider and beverage products," Rubiralta continued. "Following the success of Woodpecker Cider in the U.S., we plan to bring more of Bulmers' fine products to the American marketplace."
