TULSA An expansion franchise in Tulsa will join the Womens Premier Soccer League. Evolutions Group will be owners of the new team. The name of the new team will be Fortuna Tulsa and will feature women soccer players whom either have or are currently playing for some of the top colleges in the country, said Fortuna Tulsa General Manager Wayne Farmer. Fortuna Tulsa will be playing in the Southwest Conferences North Division and begin play in May. Home games will include games against FC Dallas, Texas Spurs, Little Rock FC, Wichita FC and Oklahoma City FC. Fortuna Tulsa also released its colors of Sky Blue, Black, and Yellow. When developing the new logo and team name, it was important for us to create something memorable, unique, and something that portrayed Tulsa in both a positive and enthusiastic light, said Fortuna Tulsa President Dave Hibbard. Fortuna was known as the Goddess of Fortune and the personification of luck within the Roman religion, so essentially Fortuna Tulsa means, Good Luck Tulsa. Season tickets are on sale now. Fortuna Tulsa will play regular-season games, five home games and five away games. Fortuna Tulsa has scheduled a tryout session on March 24 at the Union eighth-grade center soccer complex. All female players interested can register for tryouts at www.FortunaTulsa.com.
