Women and strokes research.

Ed. by Jean T. Candolotti and Jason E. Burnside.

Nova Science Publishers

282 pages

This collection of research and review articles gives insight into the latest work on stroke in women. The collection begins with two short communications: one is on gender differences in vascular risk factors in stroke patients, and the other offers a first-person perspective by a nurse researcher who is also a stroke survivor. The research and review articles explore subjects such as stroke in pregnancy, the epidemiology of stroke in women, oral contraceptives and the risk of ischemic stroke, and stroke prevention in women. Other topics are disparities in outcomes among hospitalized women with stroke, gender differences in stroke prevention and treatment, and the impact of gender on stroke rehabilitation. Information on the editors is not given.
