Women's underwear holds up traffic in Shiyyah.

Summary: A handbag loaded with women's underwear blocked traffic in southern Beirut's Shiyyah district for more than 30 minutes after sparking panic that it could be boobytrapped, a police report said on Saturday. According to the report, the black and red handbag was found abandoned on the main Shiyyah highway in Beirut's southern suburbs.

BEIRUT: A handbag loaded with women's underwear blocked traffic in southern Beirut's Shiyyah district for more than 30 minutes after sparking panic that it could be boobytrapped, a police report said on Saturday. According to the report, the black and red handbag was found abandoned on the main Shiyyah highway in Beirut's southern suburbs. A police official said the department received "a flood of calls reporting a suspicious object. "Lebanese Army units cordoned off the area as a sapper opened the bag and found women's underwear." The highway was then reopened to normal traffic, he added. - The Daily Star
