Women's marathon gets underway.

NNA - The women's marathon got underway in downtown Beirut under the patronage of First Lady Wafa Sleiman in presence of a large number of women, deputies, government officials and N.G.O. representatives.

Main arteries along the seafront and in the capital have been closed to traffic to make way for the runners with Wafa Sleiman giving the starting signal. Following a brief speech, she credited Lebanese women with self-affirmation through such undertakings such as today's marathon and thanked May Khalil for organizing the event by turning it into a tradition for the last few years.
