Women's Day; YOUR LETTERS TO THE NATIONAL NEWSPAPER OF WALES & COMMENT DEBATE.

* SIR - Make the message for today's International Women's Day one that assists all women and not just those who want a seat on a high-level board.

To this end, I make two suggestions: That we use the extensive knowledge and wisdom of older women through the work of "Council of Elders" to assist with the training of public service professionals who have no direct experience of what it means to be really old and navigate the maze of public service delivery.

For those requiring home and personal care, multi-stakeholder care co-operatives, involving service users, workers and community supporters can give older women (and men) the opportunity to take charge of solutions, which are available, and demonstrably successful internationally, without substituting public sector jobs.

These would be a real message of hope for many women and a cause to celebrate.
