Woman slid drugs to jail inmate while they kissed.
A WOMAN slipped a package of drugs to her partner in Swansea prison as they kissed during visiting hours, a court has heard. Swansea Crown Court heard staff recovered a packet of drugs containing cannabis resin, diazepam and temazepam. Ashanti-Jade Walton, prosecuting, said 52-year-old Cheryl Annette Jones visited HMP Swansea on February 2 this year to see her partner, Scott Davies.
Guards watching CCTV of the meeting-room became suspicious of her behaviour as she turned her back towards staff, and kissed the inmate on the mouth.
The barrister said the "nature of the kissing" led them to believe something was being passed from mouth to mouth.
Jones, of Glyn View, Tonyrefail, pleaded guilty to three counts of conveying a List-A article into a prison.
Dean Pulling, for Jones, said his client had felt under pressure to take the drugs for her partner.
For conveying the cannabis Judge Keith Thomas sentenced Jones to eight months in prison, for the diazepam to four months, and for the temazepam to four months, all to run concurrently, making eight months. The new sentence will run consecutively with the two years she is already serving for burglary.
