Woman killed just yards from police station.

A WOMAN has been found battered to death just 150 yards from a police station.

Murder squad detectives were last night still trying to identify the woman, aged between 35 and 45, who died from head injuries after being attacked on waste land in Exeter.

Police were alerted when the woman's fully-clothed body was spotted on a derelict piece of land behind a church hall in the Newtown bedsit area of the city.

The murder scene was immediately sealed off as detectives carried out house-to-house inquiries.

Detectives have already traced one witness who saw a woman who answered the description of the victim talking to a man on Thursday evening near the spot where the body was found.

A MAN was being questioned last night after an elderly woman out walking her dog was found battered to death in the Forest of Dean, Glos.
