Woman fends off mugger.

A KNIFE-WIELDING mugger was sent packing by an indignant woman - by a good slap across the face.

The man got more than he bargained for when he confronted the defiant 50-year-old at a cash dispenser in Nuneaton town centre.

He produced a knife and tried to grab her card - but she promptly responded by delivering a back-hander. He fled empty-handed.

The incident took place outside Lloyds TSB Bank in Coventry Street, opposite Nuneaton Town Hall and near the entrance to the town's Rope Walk shopping centre.

It happened shortly before 6pm on Sunday.
