Woman deliberately passed on HIV.

A 43-year-old woman who deliberately infected a man with HIV was j ailed yesterday.

Sarah Jane Porter, of Seaton Close, Kennington, south-east London, was sentenced to 32 months at Inner London Crown Court after admitting grievous bodily harm.

Porter will serve half of her sentence in jail and the rest on licence.

One of her victims, a 36-year-old man, said she did not reveal she had HIV and encouraged him into having unprotected sex.

He contacted detectives in May 2005 who tracked down some of Porter's lovers. One of them, a man aged 31, is HIV positive.

Porter, who refused to help detectives track down her victims, deliberately led these men into a potentially lethal "nightmare", according to Detective Sergeant Brian McClusky.

Forensic tests, carried out during the year-long investigation by the Community Safety Unit at Brixton, south London, proved that Porter was the source.

After the hearing, Mr McClusky said: "She gave us no help to identify potential victims."
