Wizards seal spot in last 4.

TUSHAR Khandker ( in pic) scored with two minutes left as Uttar Pradesh Wizards beat Kalinga Lancers 4- 3 to secure a spot in the semi- finals of the Hero Hockey India League on Thursday.

The Wizards were 3- 1 up with 12 minutes left, but the hosts scored twice in four minutes through Gagandeep Singh and Argentine Gonzalo Peillat.

Wizards were 2- 0 up inside 17 minutes with goals from Nithin Thimmaiah and Gunasekar Malayalan. The Lancers responded with a strike by Lalit Upadhyay in the 23rd minute.

They went on the offensive but the Wizards extended their lead in the 55th minute through Nikkin Thimmaiah.

The Lancers responded, but Khandker's strike proved decisive.

The Wizards are second in the table with 26 points from eight matches.

Kalinga Lancers are fifth with 11.
