With eye on National Pie prize, Edwards wins four blue ribbons.

Edwards Baking, Suwanee, Georgia, recently won four blue ribbons at the American Pie Council's (APC) National Pie Championship in Celebration, Florida. Two of the awards recognized Edwards' newest desserts--Banana Creme Pie and Butterfinger Pie.

Meanwhile, Florida became the second state in the nation, after Vermont, to designate an official state pie: Key Lime, of course. The APC and Edwards had partnered to host a "Please Pass the Pie" information campaign during the Great American Pie Festival. Also honored were at the championship were Edwards Key Lime Slices, sold in twin packs, and Turtle Pie.

The Butterfinger Pie is a creme pie filling with Butterfinger candy pieces in a cookie crust, and the Banana Creme is classic favorite made with bananas in a vanilla cookie crust.

Edwards desserts are sold by Schwan's Bakery, Inc. as whole pies and in two-slice packages. Schwan's itself won 11 blue ribbons at the 2006 national pie competition.
