Wisteria stars to get axe.

Byline: By IAN MARKHAM-SMITH

SOME big stars on Wisteria Lane may soon be really desperate - for cash.

It has been revealed that American TV drama Desperate Housewives, shown here on RTE2, will see massive cast cuts.

Actor James Denton, who plays plumber Mike Delfino, said many major characters, including his own, have had to take a back seat.

Denton, 42, explained that his low-profile in the current series was due to too many new faces.

But the star claimed this is will be remedied by mass firings.

He said: ''You're watching the second season and Mike doesn't have much to do.

"But I just got the main storyline for season three and I'm pleased to say that Mike features more prominently.

''Our cast grew too much this year and some of the characters got lost in the shuffle.

"But we'll be losing a handful of actors at the end of this series and I don't think they're going to be replaced."
