Wirelessly Connect with Sonardyne at Oceans '12.
Sonardyne will be using Oceans '12 to showcase Fetch, it's long-life seabed logging node that enables sensor data to be gathered, stored and wirelessly extracted on demand via its integrated high speed acoustic modem. Fetch was recently used in a joint project with NERACOOS to measure water conditions such as temperature, salinity and wave height in the Gulf of Maine. The nodes were deployed on the seafloor to take regular measurements and the data was then extracted wirelessly using a Liquid Robotics Wave Glider for onward transmission to an analyst. Autonomous monitoring projects such as this greatly reduce operational costs and eliminate the risks associated with sending crews to sea.

Jointly sponsored by the Marine Technology Society (MTS) and Oceanic Engineering Society of IEEE, Oceans '12 brings together the technology, people and ideas that will help expand the understanding of the earth's largest natural resource. The theme of this year's conference, "Harnessing the power of the ocean," offers 12 simultaneous technical tracks and keynote speakers from Government, academia and industry, whilst also providing the platform for delegates to discover and evaluate products from hundreds of exhibitors.
