Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market

Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market, AmericasMart, Atlanta, Jan. 7-14. Temporaries Jan. 9-13, www.americasmart.com

Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market is in the advantageous position of being one of the first trade shows of the year.

"We've become a major player in the housewares industry," says Kristi Forbes, vice president of leasing and sales at AmericasMart. "What makes us so strong - we have so many other product categories here - home accents, garden, gift, holiday, tabletop and the temporaries," which feature gourmet and specialty food companies.

The weeklong show kicks off Jan. 7 and also features hundreds of companies in the temporaries, which are open Jan. 9-13. The show attracts a large number of independent retailers, as well as buyers from all 50 states and abroad. Buyers and vendors are taking notice. "The true-blue housewares companies are seeing Atlanta as a major player. If you're in housewares, you cannot be in Atlanta," says Forbes.

For retailers, the market offers a wide range of seminars, which are listed online on the market's enhanced website. A new addition is free WiFi across the seven million square-foot campus. For more information, visit www.americasmart.com/home/jan-2014
