Winston, Robert: Evolution Revolution: From Darwin to DNA.

WINSTON, Robert Evolution Revolution." From Darwin to DNA Dorling Kindersley, 2009 96pp $29.95 ISBN 9781405337199

For many years Dorling Kindersley has been producing quality educational books. This introduction to the work of Charles Darwin and the theory of evolution is no exception. It is a clear account of the development of Darwin's theory of natural selection and its role in evolution. The author is the well known British television presenter and researcher Robert Winston, who is an able communicator.

The book is divided into four sections. The first, The search for answers sets up the problem that Darwin's theory addressed. The second, Darwin and his theory gives an account of how Darwin arrived at his theory. The third, All in the genes shows how modern genetics both illuminates Darwin's theory and offers it further support. The fourth, Evolution in action gives fascinating insights into examples of evolution at work. Topics are usually dealt with in a double page and are richly illustrated with pictures, drawings and diagrams. Scattered throughout the book are a small number of activities including a rather simple one which enables us to view our own DNA! Recommended. MO'D
