The overall prize in the Red House Children's Book Awards has been won by Andy Stanton for You're a Bad Man Mr Gum!.

According to The Guardian the book, which is set in a town called Lamonic Bibber and features a scheme to get rid of the village dog, is Stanton's first and his follow-up, entitled Mr Gum and the Biscuit Billionaire, is longlisted for the Guardian children's book prize.

The winner of the award was reportedly decided by children's votes cast through the Federation of Children's Book Groups.

Stanton's third book, which has not yet been completed, will be called Mr Gum and the Goblins.
