Winholesale's Employee Portal Provides Role-Based Access to Key Financial Data with Bowstreet Portlet Factory.

TEWKSBURY, Mass. -- Leading Shared Services Provider Able to Reduce Costs and Development Downtime While Migrating to a J2EE Environment

Bowstreet(TM), a leading provider of development tools for adaptive J2EE applications, today announced that Winholesale Business Services, a division of Winholesale that provides IT and business services for corporations that wholesale and distribute durable goods, has selected Bowstreet Portlet Factory and IBM WebSphere Portal(a) to connect legacy data and provide role-based access to financial information.

Winholesale selected Bowstreet for its unique technology, which enables the development of portlets with minimal time and effort. With Bowstreet Portlet Factory, Winholesale is able to quickly develop portlets that tie into their back-end systems and provide role-based views into financial reports. Bowstreet Portlet Factory will provide Winholesale's executives with views into various dissections of financial data, allowing them to get a snapshot of the overall health of the organization, and drill down further to look at regions, territories and even individual companies if required.

"Winholesale's financial data resides on mainframe and AS/400 systems. WebSphere Portal and Bowstreet Portlet Factory will allow us to expose this data, with appropriate security, to our entire organization, including all of our wholesaling companies," said Jeff Dana, CIO, Winholesale. "This type of access to relevant applications and data will help our extended team work efficiently and meet their objectives."

Winholesale's IT staff is migrating to a J2EE environment. With Bowstreet Portlet Factory they are able to maintain portal productivity while developing J2EE and Java skills.

"Portals are an ideal way to present views into critical business data and improve operational efficiencies. Bowstreet allows companies, even those without J2EE experts on staff, to start reaping the benefits of their portals immediately with portlets designed to evolve and change as their needs do," said Steve Ricketts, VP of marketing, Bowstreet.

"Working with companies like Bowstreet to provide complementary solutions for IBM WebSphere software is part of our commitment to deliver leading-edge, e-business integration," stated Bill Swatling, IBM WebSphere portal product manager, IBM. "The industry continues to demand total solutions for building faster and better e-business applications. By arming Winholesale with an integrated solution, we are helping them leverage business-imperative data."

IBM's worldwide sales organization sells Bowstreet Portlet Factory in conjunction with WebSphere Portal.
