Wind River's VxWorks included in Internet videophone from Motion Media.

INTERNET BUSINESS NEWS-(C)1995-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Embedded software and services company Wind River Systems Inc and visual communications technology and products developer Motion Media Technology have joined forces to produce an Internet videophone.

Motion Media's mm745 Internet videophone utilises the VxWorks real time operating system from Wind River to control the delivery of video calls.

The mm745 supports data rates of between 128kb/s and 2Mb/s but can reportedly be extended up to 10Mb/s in the future. Video calls can be set up in approximately ten seconds while the delay is less than that of a mobile phone, ensuring a natural conversation flow, according to the company.

The financial terms of the agreement and the cost of the mm745 were not announced.
