Williams shocked by 100m triumph.

JODIE Williams was expected to be in action again today at the IAAF World Youth Championships in Bressanone after winning the 100 metres in a sensational 11.39seconds.

Williams clinched an easy victory ahead of Allison Peter of the US Virgin Islands and race favourite Ashton Purvis of the USA.

Now Williams, who achieved her stunning victory nursing a hamstring twinge which came to light when warming up for her heat, was deciding whether to rest or chase more glory over 200m, joining teammate Shaunna Thompson who was run out of the bronze medal by Purvis.

Williams is still coming to terms with a race she never expected to win. The teenager said: "It is unbelievable that I am best in my age category given that I am only 15 years old. I was shocked when I saw my time."

Even before her superb display, Williams was being tipped as a likely candidate for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
