Katie Leith Williams and Stephen Ford Mills were married at four o'clock in the afternoon on September 27, 2008, at Northminster Baptist Church in Jackson.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Mark Williams of Clinton. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. O. L Ellis Jr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Esco Williams, all of Clinton.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry L Mills of Jackson. He is the grandson of Mrs. Ruth Mills of Fulton and the late Mr. James Mills and Mrs. Nell Fatheree of Hattiesburg and the late Mr. Mack Fatheree and the late Mr. Earl Tindall Buttles.

The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Chuck Poole. Nuptial music was provided by organist Billy Trotter. Scripture was read by David Bonds Ellis. The wedding was directed by Betty Brown Edgar.

Presented in marriage by her father, the bride wore an elegant strapless gown of ivory silk satin with a gathered waist, accented by a champagne colored satin ribbon sash. The full skirt featured sweeping pick-ups leading to a chapel-length train. The bride wore a chapel-length veil trimmed in satin ivory ribbon. She carried a bouquet of ivory roses hand-tied with satin ribbon and accented with her grandmother's pearl necklace.

Rebecca Newman Williams, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Katherine Mills Scanlon and Stephanie Jo Canada. Her attendants wore tea-length strapless dresses of rose pink iridescent taffeta.


Jerry L. Mills, father of the groom, served his son as best man. Groomsmen were John Preston Scanlon and James Owen Williams. Ushers were Jonathon Garth Bissette, Matthew Tracey Carr, Jonathan Holdbrook Cochran, Sean Christopher Cupit, Christopher Matthew Dove, Reed Daulton Stacey, and Scott Matthew Huggins Tomlinson.

Program and registry attendants were Jessica Nicole Perry, Betsy Smith Thompson, and Elizabeth Ann Ellis. Michael Barrie Rhemann served as the bride's proxy.

The wedding was followed by a reception at the church in the great hall, where wedding cake and groom's cake were served while the bride and groom were greeted by their guests. Following the reception at the church, close family and friends of the couple attended a cocktail buffet at the lakefront home of the bride's aunt and uncle on Lake Caroline. Here, the bride wore an ivory Grecian-style strapless gown. Music was provided by The Church Keys of Jackson.

On the eve of the wedding the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Country Club of Jackson. Rebecca Buttles, the groom's aunt, hosted a brunch on the wedding day at the Fairview Inn for family and friends of the couple.

Following a wedding trip to St Lucia, the couple lives in Jackson.
