Will these lipsticks bring you good luck?
Even if you are not Chinese or the type to celebrate the Chinese New Year and all customs and traditions attached to it, you will find it difficult to resist MAC Cosmetics' Lucky Red Collection for Lunar New Year 2019.
Five lipsticks, a blush duo and a brush are what is in the collection, every item of which is encased in a limited-edition red packaging.
There are three lipsticks from MAC's regular line, including the iconic Ruby Woo, Russian Red and Lady Danger. There are two new limited-edition colors: Lotus Light (intense pinky red in Amplified finish) and Lucky In Love (midtone pinky mauve in Matte finish).
If I could only get one item from this collection, it would have to be the Powder Blush Duo in Melba/Lovecloud, both permanent shades. Melba is a Matte coral peach while Lovecloud is a Satin bright midtone pink. The collection includes 129SHSES Powder/Blush Brush.
The brand has also launched MAC in Monochrome, taking six of its most iconic lipstick shades and creating a full-face range for each that will make your monochromatic dreams come true.
Monochromatic looks are quite big right now. I am not sure if I can do a full monochromatic look but maybe I can be OK with two at a time-maybe eyes and lips, or cheeks and lips.
The shades include Velvet Teddy (deep beige), Heroine (bright purple), See Sheer (grapefruit pink), Diva (intense reddish burgundy), Candy Yum-Yum (neon pink) and, of course, Ruby Woo (vivid red).
Colors are matched to perfection with a Lipglass, matte and frost eye shadows, powder blush and glitter pigment, with the lipstick packaging being upgraded to color-coordinated tubes.
The MAC in Monochrome look is modern. You can play with the products and even diffuse the color so you do not look too matchy-matchy. For instance, you can wear See Sheer and Velvet Teddy lipsticks together.
MAC Versicolour Stain is a product from the brand that I love. I have the original version, which is a cream. I use it as a lipstick topper and a base for powder blush when I want my cheek color to pop.
'The gloss-stain fusion of Versicolour ascends to the next level. Captivate with a lip color hybrid that's glossier, higher coverage and harder impact than ever before: new Versicolour Varnish Cream Lip Stain. Its watery-light formula glides on creamy and comfortable to impart long-wearing, saturated full coverage and an always-fresh wet finish,' said MAC Cosmetics in its web site.
My favorite shade from Versicolour Varnish is Stuck In Love, a rose nude that I use as a lip color and a blush.
