Wilkinson converts to town.

A deal to bring a leading store to the centre of a South Wales town has been successfully completed. The Wilkinson cut-price general store will be built on an eyesore site in the centre of Barry which has in recent years been used as a temporary car park.

The deal, which will lead to the development of a 13,000 sq ft store, is seen as another important step forward in revitalising the town centre.

The project is one of a raft of initiatives currently being undertaken by Barry Action, the partnership between the Vale council and the Welsh Development Agency, charged with the regeneration of the greater Barry area.

Councillor Jeff James, leader of the Vale of Glamorgan Council, said: 'This is exciting and important news.'
