Advanced network analysis company WildPackets Inc has revealed that it has made a substantial upgrade to its mobile spectrum analysis solution OmniSpectrum.
According to WildPackets, OmniSpectrum allows IT engineers to measure RF interference, which affects WLAN performance, enabling it to identify and locate the sources of the interference. RF interference creates network congestion, causing network connections to drop, posing a threat to many enterprise WLANs.
WildPackets said OmniSpectrum provides advanced spectrum analysis in a portable form factor suited to busy IT service technicians and network administrators and can be run on a standard Windows laptop computer. Version 3.0 offers UI improvements which the company claimed make it easier for users to customise the dashboard, access detailed data, navigate between screens and carry out actions with a single click.
OmniSpectrum v3.0 offers new graphical displays for channel usage, interference and noise and allows administrators to see quickly which channels are over used and whether 802.11 or non-802.11 devices are causing interference.
