Wiggo set for switch.

BRADLEY WIGGINS is expected to sign a new contract with Team Sky next month - but it will bring down the curtain on his days as a Grand Tour contender.

Wiggins long-term plans will be tailored towards trying to win a fifth Olympic gold at Rio in 2016 as part of the Team GB pursuit squad.

He said: "If I'm going to be serious about Rio, which I am, it's easy to get roped in when it comes to stage races. There has to be a point where I make that switch, and with the winter months coming up, I have time to change my body shape (for the team pursuit).

"Soon there will only be 18 months to go until the Olympics, so that's going to have to start soon if we're going to do it."
