Why gays love Bug's Bummy..

CARTOON legend Bugs Bunny has been outed as a gay wabbit.

The children's favourite has won a place in a top 10 of gay cartoon characters - thanks to his perfectly formed bottom.

Other traits which have won him camp kudos include his habit of dressing up in women's clothes and his love of opera.

Gay radio station Gaydar has named Bugs, famed for his battle of wits with hunter Elmer Fudd, at number five in its list.

But the smart-alec "wascally wabbit" created by Warner Bros, the star of a string of films and more than 175 animated shorts, has some famous rivals for the closet crown.

He-Man, Yogi Bear, Velma from Scooby Doo, Snoopy's pal Peppermint Patty and the entire cast of South Park have also been outed.

The station's website said: "Most of them are for kids, none of them are out and proud.

"Some of them aren't particularly positive portrayals but you can't deny there's a whole world of ambiguously gay sexuality on our screens."

The top 10 are:

1. Waylon Smithers - The Simpsons 2. Peppermint Patty and Marcie - pals of Charlie Brown in Peanuts 3. Hopey from the Love and Rockets comic books 4. South Park 5. Bugs Bunny 6. Velma from Scooby Doo 7. Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo 8. He-Man 9. Beavis and Butthead 10. Batman and Robin
