Why fear ageing?

Being 40 is just as exciting as being in teenage years! I couldn't help but admire the great attitude of actress Jodie Foster (GDN, August 23).

Aging is so much feared by so many. Many become grey just by worrying about grey hairs. Unfortunately, they go grey in spirit long before their hair turns grey.

That's why, I feel there are precious lessons to be learnt from Jodie Foster.

I think Jodie's message is that we should not regret about getting old. Think of it as a privilege denied to many. The key to successful aging is to give it as little an attention as possible.

As a matter of fact, age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.

For, as long as we can dream, we will be young. The moment regrets take the place of dreams, we become old.

Actually, wrinkles on the face are not as dangerous as those in the minds. I've seen many old people who've never lost their beauty. They just move it from their face to their heart.

We don't have to stop laughing because we're old. We're old because we've stopped laughing!
